Reserve Bank of Australia Researching Blockchain
The RBA has advised that the Financial Stability Board is to prepare a report to the G20 on the regulatory and supervisory issues raised by fintech. The Australian Treasury is contributing to this work, in liaison with the RBA and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). The report is due out in July.
As part of this process the RBA is participating in a working group of the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures examining DLT and its implications. In February, the working group published an analytical framework for authorities wishing to review and analyse the use of this technology for payments, clearing and settlement.
